Panasonic has been an innovator in engineering solar panels since 1975. Panasonic is known for inventing solar panels with Heterojunction Technology back in the 1980s but hasn’t grown in attention until the last decade. They are known for their exceptional warranties. Even though Panasonic has released that they will stop manufacturing solar panels, they will not be exiting the solar market. And due to their technology operating best in moderate temperatures, they are a perfect fit for Californians.

Heterojunction Technology
Panasonic’s unique Heterojunction Technology allows its solar panels to produce more energy than conventional solar panels with less sunlight. Heterojunction Technology has several crystalline silicon layers, each with a different composition. These layers allow electrons to move freely, creating a more powerful flow of electricity. Heterojunction Technology is a much-loved technology for many solar panel manufacturers, but Panasonic is the only one that still uses it to this day.
Panasonic Warranties
Panasonic solar panels come with either a 15 or 25-year warranty. These warranties are the most you’ll ever see from a solar panel manufacturer. Other high-quality solar panel manufacturers are LG, Canadian Solar, and Suntrix. LG has a 10-year warranty, Canadian Solar has a 15-year warranty, and Suntrix has a 25-year warranty. The higher the warranty, the more confident the manufacturer is in their solar panel. Panasonic’s panels are right at the top of the solar panel industry. Panasonic solar panels come with an industry-leading 25-year power output warranty. You’ll never see another solar manufacturer offer a warranty that long. Other top-quality solar panel manufacturers are LG, Canadian Solar, and Suntrix. LG has a 10-year power output warranty, Canadian Solar has a 15-year power output warranty, and Suntrix has a 25-year power output warranty. The more extended warranty is a sign of a top-quality solar panel.
Panasonic Solar is here to stay
Many have rumored that Panasonic is exiting the market. Even though Panasonic has released that in March of 2022, they will stop manufacturing solar panels, they will not be leaving the solar market. They say, “Manufacturing the solar panels has become a low-margin business category due to decreasing prices and changing technologies.” They decided to stop manufacturing the panels in their Malaysian and Japanese factories. The manufacturing will still be to OEM specifications and continue with the same warranties. They have not left the market but continue to innovate new technologies in designing an ecosystem of residential energy products.
