If your roof is over fifteen years old, it may be time for a Bay Area roofing contractor to conduct an inspection. When inspecting, there should be common roof dangers that you should be able to identify. If these common roof dangers are easy to see, then it may be time to consider a new roof. Here are some of the signs you should be able to identify in a decaying roof.
Algae – algae can actually do a lot of damage to your roof. If you see black streaks on your roof, odds are you have algae. Call your Bay Area Roofer now as this may destroy your roof completely. It’s not only very difficult to remove, but it may also mean that there are deeper issues with your roof.
Blistering – If water has gotten under your roof and has stayed there for a long time, it can cause blistering. Blistering comes in the form of small dark spots.
Buckling and Curling – buckled and curled shingles can be caused by many different reasons. If you see your shingles are buckling or curling, this may be a sign of improper roof ventilation. Improper roof ventilation can cause you a lot of problems, some of these include premature tear and wear, increased energy bills, shortened air conditioner lifespan, etc. Other causes for buckling and curling spots may include improper fastening/installation, nails that are too high, lack of back coating and more! Ceiling Spots – If you see any discoloration or spots on your ceiling, you may be dealing with water damage. If the damage isn’t too big, you should be able to patch the leak. Missing Shingles – missing shingles can be caused due to improper installation or fastening.
